Environmental Site Assessment
Properly assessing the risk associated with a potentially contaminated Site can avoid major economic, legal and planning implications for the landowner and the wider community.
Every site is unique so determining land use suitability relies on experience to develop an appropriate investigation strategy. With in-house expertise from a Certified Environmental Practitioner – Site Contamination Specialist, demonstrated experience and a real world, practical philosophy, CHEC is able to tailor an approach for all sites that will suit the needs of any client.
CHEC undertakes site assessments in accordance with the National Environmental Protection (Assessment of Site Contamination) Measure (NEPM) 2013 and NSW EPA, Guidelines for Consultants Reporting on Contaminated Land.
CHEC places great emphasis on being able to provide conclusive outcomes to any investigation in our Certified assessment reports. For this reason we approach every project as a partnership to determine the most scientifically robust and cost effective method of obtaining representative data.
CHEC work in partnership with clients to understand the potential exposure scenarios at a site. Our experience dealing with many development and property types allows our data interpretation to be informative and incorporated into reports with explanation for outcomes rather than perpetual investigation. Our pragmatic, transparent and collaborative approach is appreciated by decision makers that like to have all of their options made available to them at all stages of the project.
The requirement to investigate a Site for potential contamination can be initiated by a number of circumstances, which may include:
- Land use suitability assessment to support a development application (DA) or comply with a development consent
- Due diligence for property acquisition, financing or sale disclosure information
- To quantify the development cost of soil and/or groundwater disposal
- To comply with an Environmental Protection Licence
- In response to a Council or EPA request such as a Cleanup Notice
- An unexpected find of contamination
- To delineate the impact of a contamination incident
