Landfill Gas Assessment and Mitigation
As development opportunities grow, many historical landfill Sites, both regulated and unregulated, are being encountered. These Sites present a unique problem with the potential generation and migration of landfill gasses such as methane and hydrogen sulphide.
Landfill gasses can cause significant harm to occupants of any development if not assessed and managed correctly. The NSW EPA provides minimum requirements for assessing and managing sites impacted by ground gasses in their Assessment Guidelines and Solid Waste Landfill Guidelines.
CHEC staff have significant experience in monitoring and assessing the risks posed by landfill gas. We have designed and supervised the installation of mitigation systems to protect all manner of development. This includes high rise apartment buildings, Commercial warehousing and standard low density residential developments.
CHEC have the capability to undertake regular compliance monitoring for managed sites or carry out risk assessment for proposed developments. We have a variety of solutions available to manage any site impacted by hazardous ground gas and the capacity to project manage the installation process and validate the completed system.
